University of
Oregon, Greg Ballard
twice won
All-conference
honors and was
All-American forward
in 1977 when he
averaged 26.7 points
and 9.8 rebounds per
game. He led the
Pac-8 Conference in
scoring twice and
helped the Ducks to
a 74-41 record and
three NIT
appearances from
1974-77.
Ballard ranks as
Oregon’s career
leader in rebounds
(1,114), is third in
scoring (1,829), and
set a school record
with 43 points in
one game. A first
round draft choice
of the Washington
Bullets, he was a
member of their
world championships
team in 1978 and
finished his NBA
career with 9,953
points (12.4 per
game) in 10 seasons.
