Lynda Johnson,
from Gresham’s
Barlow High School,
arrived at Portland
State University and
went on to become
one of the greatest
players in PSU
volleyball history.
Lynda is the only
4-time 1st team AVCA
All-American in NCAA
II history
(1982-1985). She
ended her brilliant
career compiling
amazing statistics:
playing in 164
matches (2nd
all-time at PSU);
1,870 kills (2nd);
5,183 attacks (1st);
2,116 assists (3rd);
210 service aces
(1st); 85 service
aces in 1983 is a
school record; and
ended with an
overall record of
139 wins and 25
losses. During her
career, Lynda led
Portland State to
national
championships in
1984 and 1985. Her
number 7 jersey was
retired and now
hangs on the PSU gym
wall.
